Event Post 3 - Making New Friends

*So Odelia. You might be walking around the grounds of Domino City High School during lunchtime, when you spot a girl with green hair, tied up in a bun on one side, sat on a bench on her own, eating lunch.
Care to join her?*
no subject
She walks over, carrying her own lunch*
Hey, there. Mind if I join you?
no subject
*Kotori looks up from her lunch and gives her a friendly smile.*
I don't mind at all. Feel free!
no subject
Thanks.
I haven't seen you around, before. Are you new here?
no subject
I'm Mizuki, Kotori.
no subject
I think I had heard about someone transferring in, recently... I guess that was you?
no subject
It's nice to meet you, too!
Yes. That's me. I guess transfers don't really happen all too often, especially so late into the school year.
no subject
*opens her lunch to start eating*
no subject
*She gives a small nod.*
Yeah, I didn't have any choice other to transfer... but, I'm determined to do my best to pass my finals in March so I'm able to graduate.
no subject
How've you been handling this? Being in a new school.
no subject
It's... been difficult, I'll admit. It's scary to go from a place where there has always been familiar faces, to a place where you know absolutely no one. On top of that it was difficult to settle into the schoolwork, but I'm trying my best and the school have been helping as much as they can.
I'm also working an after school job, so between that, classes and doing a bit of extra studying each night, it's been rather exhausting too.

I don't mind you asking at all.
I'm an apprentice at a small private fashion designing company, 'Castle & Castle'. I did some unpaid apprentice work for them during the summer for two weeks, so when I asked online about any place that could be hiring for an after school job, I was offered a paid apprentice position with them.

*She nods with a smile.*
I want to become a fashion designer myself, so this is really good experience for me.

*She places her lunch to the side for a moment and reaches into her school bag, bringing out a small sketch book, handing it to her.*
These are some of the recent ones I've designed. I used to have more but... I don't have those anymore.
*When she looks through it, she'll see a bunch of clothing designs, from pretty dresses, to more casual wear.*
no subject
Wow! You're really good at this.
It's nice to have something you're aiming for. I'm not really sure yet what I want to end up doing once I'm all done with school.
no subject
Ah, thank you! As well as designing, I've also been been doing a lot of practise with the actual sewing too and was able to make my first full garment not too long ago.
I'm sure you'll figure something out eventually. I had only really decided on this as a career path this past year. Before that it was really just a hobby.
no subject
*she closes the sketch book, handing it back*
I've always been kinda interested in dueling, so this would be my best chance for it.
no subject
*She looks over at her curiously as she takes the sketchbook.*
Hm? You have an interest in dueling? Is there any reason you didn't go to school at Duel Academy? That seems like a much better place for someone who has an interest in dueling and might want a career in it.
no subject
I kinda wish that the LDS cram school had been open by the time this had come up with them, that might've been a good option at least... But I've heard they're pretty strict there, too.
no subject
*Kotori notices the awkwardness when she talks about the Academy.*
A-ah! I'm sorry if I brought up something difficult for you at all by asking.
no subject
All you gotta know is what my aims are right now.
no subject
Yeah, that's true.
At least you have the option of the college.
Hey, do you have a deck at all?
no subject
no subject
*Her face lights up.*
That's great! I have a light/fairy deck!
I only recently started learning. My boyfriend's been teaching me, but I've been wanting to find someone to practise against while he's at the Academy!
no subject
... You have a boyfriend, though? And he goes to the Academy?
no subject
His name is Yuma, he's in his final year there.
no subject
That means he'll be graduating soon, right? March? Or no, wait, Duel Academy's got a weirder set-up... October?

I wondered that too. They don't even get a proper summer break like we do. They get maybe a week free between the end of the school year and beginning of the next, plus the two week winter holidays and the other holidays like Golden week, but no summer.
I was told that it's odd term times are possibly because it's a specialized school with a stricter specialized curriculum, but still... it is a little confusing.
no subject
... *she looks up at the sky* Now I'm really missing the summer.
no subject
I know what you mean. I feel that everyone should get a summer break so they can freely enjoy the nice weather. It's good to work hard towards goals but... they should be allowed time to relax too. It's not healthy to spend extensive amounts of time working.
no subject
*she eats her food, trying to cheer herself up. No point thinking about the cold weather.*
no subject
Yeah, you're right! I shouldn't be too worried about that. Besides, they have given Yuma a lot of help and support with his work. He's .... not the most studious person and he actually failed his second year, but they gave him another chance at it, as well as giving him a student tutor.
He still found it difficult to settle into, but since I grew up with Yuma and knew the best ways to motivate him and help him to concentrate on his work, I worked a little with his tutor to come up with a plan to help him.
He's doing so much more better with his work there now. He even could of moved up to a higher dorm for his third year if he wanted to, but he chose not to. He has a roommate at the Academy, called Yuya, and the two are really close friends. They wanted to continue sharing a room while Yuma is still there and their current dorm is the only one that has shared rooms.

*She looks over at her curiously.*
Oh? You've met Yuya before? Sakaki, Yuya?
no subject
*... she thinks*
Hey, wait a minute. You said your name was Mizuki, Kotori, right? I think I've met you before, too!
no subject
Wait. We've met before? On the community?
*She thinks for a moment, then gasps as she covers her mouth.*
Oh my gosh! You're right! I remember! I'd completely forgotten!
no subject
Aahaha, don't worry, I forgot it too. It's kinda a shock when I actually meet someone from there. I don't usually expect it!
no subject
*Kotori lets out an amused giggle.*
I guess not everyone gets to introduce themselves twice, hm?
It's kinda nice knowing you're someone that I've technically already met before though.
no subject
But yeah, I don't think I've met a Yuma before... I'm going to have to do that sometime.
no subject
Well, he's very active on the community and he's the type of person who loves meeting new people!
Though, if we get to do a practise duel on a weekend, I could always invite him to watch. Then you could meet him in person!
